Reality TV is pernicious, ridiculous, and should probably die.

from sexisnottheenemy.com

Bitch magazine (which is an interesting publication for everyone regardless of gender or degree of bitchiness)  managed to find this in the bowels of the internet.

It's a casting call for a reality tv show that's in the works, in which people who "bend gender roles"--the examples given include "female gym teacher" and "man who likes pedicures", which gives me a clue to the deep and intensive gender studies the producers have engaged in-- can "set the record straight" about not being gay.

Sounds like it's a cautious start on a good idea. Diversifying popular depictions of what it is to be "a straight man" or "a straight woman" isn't the worst idea, though I've heard better.

Except that parallel casting calls are looking for "that person that everyone knows is gay but them".

Making this most likely a giant, public, sexual-orientation outing-machine.

Which is disgusting, and makes me want to build a bunker and forget about this shit.

  1. Didn't they JUST have a HUGE scandal about that very same thing? People don't learn too well.

  2. Isn't it sadlarious?
My secondary problem is how many people would watch it, and how much press it would get.
And the world would spin madly on.
